Regina King will star as Shirley Chisholm — the first Black congresswoman and the first Black woman to run for President of the U.S. — in Netflix’s new thought-provoking biopic movie, Shirley. It is written and directed by John Ridley (12 Years A Slave). Back in December 2021, Deadline revealed that the streamer had landed the rights to the feature-length film after a mad 10-month bidding war.

Nope! As of this moment, Netflix hasn’t set an official release date for the movie, but considering they entered post-production in April 2022, we could potentially expect a late 2022 or an early 2023 release for the movie.
