Star Wars 25 Palpatine

Marvel Comics has released an official preview for Star Wars #25, a celebratory issue that marks writer Charles Soule’s 100th comic book set in the galaxy far, far away. The preview offers a glimpse at the stories that lie within — including a lightsaber battle between Darth Vader and his master, Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.

Set to hit comic shops this coming Wednesday, July 20, Star Wars #25 sees Soule reunite with various collaborators from his previous Star Wars comics, namely Giuseppe Camuncoli (Star Wars: Darth Vader), Ramon Rosanas (Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin), Phil Noto (Star Wars: Poe Dameron) and Will Sliney (Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren).

Star Wars #25’s first story, “The Lesson,” features a sparring session between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, taking place between the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. The comic’s second story, also titled “The Lesson,” mirrors the first, with Palpatine igniting his lightsaber and bluntly telling Anakin, now known as Darth Vader, “Fight me.” This apparent duel between the Sith master and apprentice takes place shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

The third story, “See You Around, Kid,” centers on Kylo Ren, taking place between the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The fourth and final story, “A Eulogy for Snap,” focuses on Poe Dameron and takes place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. The preview pages for “A Eulogy for Snap” and both versions of “The Lesson” were revealed this past June, though were still unlettered at the time, leaving the dialogue a mystery — until now. Meanwhile, the new preview page for “See You Around, Kid” is different from the one revealed back in June.
