Supreme Dissension, Palace Intrigue, and Consequences

Welcome to the RedState Weekly Briefing  — where we take a quick look at the week’s most viewed stories in case you missed any of them. What do you suppose caught people’s attention in this latest whirlwind week? Grab a cup of coffee (or something stronger if you’re so inclined), and sit down with this 21st Century Weekend Edition of your favorite (online) publication — here we go!

#1 – Ketanji Brown Jackson Did Something So Stupid That Even Sonia Sotomayor Couldn’t Let It Slide — by Bonchie

There are only two viable explanations here. The first is that Jackson is truly this much of a legal lightweight and doesn’t have the capacity to understand basic parts of her job as a Supreme Court justice, including being able to understand what issue the court is ruling on. That’s certainly possible given her history of jurisprudence and the fact that she was placed in her position because Biden pledged only to nominate a black woman for the job.

The other option is that Jackson is so insanely partisan that she’d see the judiciary burned to the ground to prop up her left-wing ideology. Neither is good, considering she has a lifetime appointment.

#2 – Megyn Kelly Breaks Down Why She Thinks Pam Bondi’s ‘Days Are Numbered’

“Just look at the influencer thing. Just take a step back,” Kelly said. “What kind of an attorney general would pretend she’s giving new information to some of the president’s most loyal advocates in the press? You know, buying ink by the barrel.”

“So either Pam Bondi knew she was about to embarrass some of his most loyal surrogates out there and did that willingly, or she didn’t take the time to make sure what was in those binders,” she added. “She was too lazy to actually figure out none of this is new. And yet she called a meeting with the influencers that included Kash Patel, the head of the FBI, and the sitting vice president.”

“So she’s either lazy and incompetent, or she willingly humiliated some of the president’s most loyal supporters. Neither one of those is good,” the host continued. “And that’s why, I’m sorry, but I’m going to predict her days are numbered as a member of the Trump administration. You know, Trump, he’s not dumb. But I just don’t think, I don’t think Trump created this.”

#3 – Portland Anti-ICE Crew Taunted Agents, Then Had a ‘Find Out’ Moment on July 4th — by Nick Arama

But the actions continue in Portland; they’ve been happening for almost a month. They need to take some serious action to deal with the situation there. The anti-ICE crew has been camped across the street, disrupting the area. There are residential neighbors near the facility who have had to deal with this, while the city does nothing to stop it.

There was more action on Thursday, with the anti-ICE guys threatening the agents, “Every one of you has a name,” and threatening to tell their neighbors about “every f****** one of you,” and “you’re f*****.” The agents, bless them, apparently have developed a sense of humor in the face of all this insanity, and reportedly played the Bill Haley & the Comets song, “See You Later, Alligator,” at the anti-ICE crew as they drove out.

#4 – White House Issues Statement Following Pam Bondi, Dan Bongino Rumors Over Epstein Files — by Katie Jerkovich

The White House appeared to respond to rumors that either President Donald Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi or FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino was out following the Department of Justice’s announcement about no Epstein “client list.”

“President Trump has assembled a highly qualified and experienced law and order team dedicated to protecting Americans, holding criminals accountable, and delivering justice to victims,” a statement on Friday from White House principal deputy press secretary Harrison Fields read, per Semifor White House Correspondent Shelby Talcott.

“This work is being carried out seamlessly and with unity,” the statement added. “Any attempt to sow division within this team is baseless and distracts from the real progress being made in restoring public safety and pursuing justice for all.”

#5 – Former NFL Star Jason Kelce Celebrates July 4th, Finds Out the Hard Way That Leftists Hate America — by Bob Hoge

This isn’t an endorsement of Jason Kelce—his wild antics are not for everyone, and as the brother of Kansas City Chiefs star Travis, or Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, as some know him—he’s bound to take some incoming. But is it really fair to smash him over saying he loves July 4th, fireworks, and putting our differences aside for one day?

Not only is it not fair, but it shows how far the left has gone, and how much they hate the very country that gives them the ability to voice their views. Try that in Iran or North Korea, leftist keyboard warriors, and then tell us how it worked out for you.

When a prominent figure can’t even voice his enthusiasm over the 4th of July without the wailing and gnashing of teeth by progressives, it shows you just how far they’ve drifted from regular Americans who count our blessings that we live here.
