Multiple flights and ferry services have been cancelled in Sydney due to a thick blanket of fog that enveloped the city on Tuesday morning.
Travellers flying into or out of Sydney Airport are urged to check their flight status with their airlines, with many delays and cancellations.
‘Heavy fog is impacting flights across the network,’ an airport spokesperson said.
Ferry services were also impacted, although some routes east of the Harbour Bridge resumed in time for the morning peak period.
‘Allow extra travel time, listen to announcements and check information displays for service updates,’ Transport NSW said.
F3 and F4 ferries were not operating, including all Parramatta River and Pyrmont Bay services.

A thick blanket of fog covered Sydney’s skies on Tuesday morning, sparking widespread chaos

The foggy skies across Sydney also sparked low visibility on the roads and waterways
Motorists were also warned to take care on the roads.
‘Reduced visibility in fog will make road conditions dangerous,’ a Bureau of Meteorology alert states.
Visibility dropped to as as low as 50 metres in some parts of Sydney.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s Dean Narramore told the Today show that recent rain and a lack of wind overnight created the perfect conditions for widespread fog.
‘We saw fog develop along our western and southern suburbs, a few hours after sunset yesterday,’ he said.
‘That just continued to expand overnight and early this morning, and now thick fog is covering all across much of Sydney Harbour out to the airport.’
The foggy skies were expected to clear by late morning, with Sydney forecast to reach a top of 21C.
