Australians are shocked over an Aldi home cleaning item that has beaten far more expensive supermarket staples in rigorous consumer testing.
The best $2.15 budget is none other than Di-San’s Pro Ultra Degreaser With Enzymes.
The previously underrated spray has been ranked joint-best overall in a major stain remover test conducted by consumer advocacy group CHOICE, outperforming dozens of household-name brands.
CHOICE recently put a wide range of supermarket stain removers through their paces, testing how well each product tackled common household stains including sweat, makeup, grass and tomato.
Among the long list of contenders from Aldi, Coles and Woolworths, one product stood out.
Aldi’s Di-San Pro Ultra Degreaser With Enzymes scored a joint-top rating of 78 per cent, placing it alongside one of the most recognisable stain remover brands on Australian shelves, despite costing just a fraction of the price.
The other high scorer was Sard Super Power Stain Remover Toughest Stains ($8) with a matching score.
‘We had two products tie for first place, [with] both receiving a score of 78 per cent,’ CHOICE household expert Chris Barnes said.

Di-San’s Pro Ultra Degreaser With Enzymes ($2.15) has been ranked joint-best overall stain remover when used on common household stains including sweat, makeup, grass and tomato
‘Both stain removers performed well at removing sweat, makeup, grass, and tomato stains.’
While the results were impressive on performance alone, it was the price difference that really raised eyebrows.
‘If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, we recommend trying an Aldi Di-San product,’ Mr Barnes said.
‘The Aldi Di-San stain remover sprays come in at just 28 cents per 100ml, less than a sixth of the cost of the top-scoring Sard spray product.’
He added that the Sard Wonder Soaker Super Power ($11), which comes in a powder form, was also worth the money coming in at a close second place with a score of 76 per cent.
He said it ‘performed well on grass, mud, tomato, and baby food stains’ while costing ‘a fifth of the price’ of comparable top-rated powders.
The findings have sparked a wave of disbelief among shoppers, many of whom say they’ve walked past the product countless times without realising it was one of the best in the country.
For just a couple of dollars, the Aldi buy managed to match – and in some cases outperform – stain removers costing two, three or even four times as much.

CHOICE ranked Earth Choice Ultra Power Stain Remover ($3.99-$4.15) at the bottom end of the scale with a 59 per cent score, while Sard Super Power Stain Remover Toughest Stains ($8) was listed in joint first place with 78 per cent

Why do you think so many Aussies still overlook cheaper supermarket brands despite results like this?
It’s yet another example of a budget supermarket item quietly punching well above its weight.
At the other end of the rankings, several higher-priced products failed to deliver the same results.
CHOICE found that some popular spray stain removers scored as low as the high-50s and low-60s, with Earth Choice Ultra Power Stain Remover on the bottom end of the scale.
The item, which can be found at IGA and Chemist Warehouse for $3.99 to $4.15, notched a 59 per cent rating.
The results served as a reminder to shoppers that a higher price tag doesn’t always mean better performance.
