The Walking Dead's Chandler Riggs to Star in Spider-Man Fan Film, First Look Revealed

After missing out on his chance to play Peter Parker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, former child star Chandler Riggs will finally portray the superhero in a Spider-Man fan film.

Riggs, who rose to fame with his role as Carl Grimes on AMC’s hit zombie drama The Walking Dead, auditioned for the role of Peter Parker in the MCU before it ultimately went to Tom Holland. Indie filmmaker Andy Chen has now shared that Riggs will play his web-slinger in an upcoming Spider-Man fan film that will be given a horror spin. As a fan film, the project is not affiliated with Marvel Studios, but it does give Riggs another chance at a role that got away. Taking to TikTok, Chen also shared behind-the-scenes footage from filming, revealing a first look at the actor playing Spider-Man. Chen also shared more photos from the set on Instagram.

Marvel’s Various Spider-Boys, Ranked

Chen wrote and directed the fan film, which doesn’t yet have an official title. Along with Riggs as Peter Parker, other cast members include Carl Addicott as Uncle Ben, Holgie Forrester as Aunt May, Caylee Cowan as Gwen Stacy, Kyra Elise Gardner as Mary Jane, and Andrew Hernon as J. Jonah Jameson.

Andy Chen Went Viral With His Shrek Horror Fan Film

Chen went viral in 2022 with the release of another fan film. Called Fiona, it was based on Shrek, but similarly with a horror twist. The fan film has since pulled in more than 2.87 million views on YouTube. In an Instagram post, Chen noted, “I had this idea to make a horror Spider-Man fan film soon after my Shrek horror film blew up. And I’m so honored to announce we have the amazing [Chandler Riggs] playing Peter Parker!!”

What Are Spider-Man’s Powers in the MCU?

This isn’t the only time Chandler Riggs has played a superhero. He voices a teenage version of Clark Kent in the animated crossover film Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen, Part One, which was released earlier this year. While his Spider-Man project is a fan film, the Justice League crossover is an official DC project. Since his time on The Walking Dead, Riggs was also a part of the cast of A Million Little Things, which ended its run earlier this year.

The untitled Spider-Man fan film will be made available on Andy Chen’s YouTube channel when it’s released, though it doesn’t yet have a release date.
