Tom Kerridge looks set to rile customers up yet again by increasing the price of his Harrods fish finger sandwich from £18 to £27.
The Michelin-star chef set the price of his fish finger sandwich at £18 in the Knightsbridge department store restaurant Kerridge’s Fish and Chips in September last year.
Now, the TV chef’s signature sandwich is being sold with a side such as chips, hardcore slaw, minted peas or broccoli at a cost of £27 and is no longer advertised on its own on the menu.
The addition of a side softens blow of the expensive new price, because they usually cost £8.50 or £9.50 on their own – so diners can actually save 50p depending on which one they choose.
But some customers may be unhappy because they can no longer buy the sandwich on its own for £18.

Championing the sandwich on social media, Harrods wrote: ‘We see your classic butty and raise you Kerridge’s Fish Finger Sandwich with pickled cucumber and tartare sauce.
‘Ready to dive in? Gourmet butties are now available at Kerridge’s Fish & Chips…’
Kerridge’s fish finger sandwich is by no means the most expensive thing on the menu, with deep-fried whole lobster going for a hefty £80.
You can also buy up to 250g of decadent Oscietra caviar, served with chips and crème fraîche, with the price ranging from £32 for 10g to a whopping £490 to 250g.
In October last year, Kerridge, 50, sparked anger by charging £37 for fish and chips at his posh Harrods chip shop.
The ‘Market Day Fish Meal’ includes a piece of Cornish fish coated in Kerridge’s gluten-free batter and is served with just eight chips, as well as Matson curry sauce, tartare sauce, and pease pudding.
One customer fumed at the time: ‘What planet is he on, there is a cost of living crisis. Who can afford his prices?’

While another, Phil Chadwick, added: ‘Better off doing your own.’
A third, named Julie, simply concluded: ‘Too expensive.’
Kerridge, who owns nine restaurants in the UK and has three Michelin stars, opened Kerridge’s Fish and Chips in Harrods in 2021.
