TOMS RIVER – A fatal head-on collision on Route 571, just west of Indian Head Road, left one woman dead Monday morning, according to reports from the scene.
The victim, who has not been immediately identified, is believed to have struck a guardrail before losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a truck.
The Toms River Police Department was expected to release more details about the crash soon.
The accident forced police to close a portion of the roadway on Monday as first responders and investigators arrived on the scene.
