Tonga has been rocked by a magnitude 6.2 earthquake, simply weeks after a devastating volcanic eruption and tsunami.
The quake struck 130 miles west of the island of Lifuka round 7.40pm native time on Thursday, the US Geological Survey stated.
Lifuka is a part of the low-lying Haʻapai Islands chain which was hard-hit within the Hunga-Tonga eruption, with a number of of the islands seeing all their buildings swept away within the subsequent tsunami.
There was no speedy phrase on injury from Thursday’s earthquake, with communications within the area nonetheless badly disrupted after the eruption severed an underwater web cable that’s nonetheless being repaired.
