Trans Queer Dad Asks For Donations To Buy Puberty Blockers For His Young Child [VIDEO]

The popular Twitter account Libs of TikTok recently a video on Tuesday of a “trans queer dad” who is asking his TikTok followers for donations for a ridiculous cause: to put his child on puberty blockers.

The man in this video – who goes by the name “Lyric” – is asking for donations from his followers to fund his young child’s transition to a boy.

“Um basically I’m raising money to help fund my son’s transition-related costs,” says Lyric. “Basically we already have a diagnosis of gender dysphoria for him. We have gotten his bloodwork done and we need to start him on puberty blockers as soon as possible.”

“Basically, my insurance doesn’t cover this, which is wonderful, right?” he continues. “Um, the generic version of Lupron, that we have a 22-and-a-half milligram dose that is going to cost out-of-pocket $468 per shot and each shot lasts three months.”

Lyric explains that they will need four of these Lupron shots for a year, roughly equalling $2,000.

“I have already exhausted most of my funds,” says Lyric. “I need help. I want to raise money to help cover his transition-related costs as, um, it’s very difficult to come up with that sort of money on short notice.”

“I know that I’m asking a lot, but I would do anything to make sure that he is able to continue his transition seamlessly,” he concludes.

Many Twitter users have commented on the sheer ridiculousness of this video, asking how this person could fail to come up with $500 every 3 months, especially if they tried reaching out to friends or family for help.

One commenter, who says they and their child are both transgender, suggests that Lyric could probably come up with the necessary funds, but he wanted to post this video for social recognition.

“I think they probably can come up with the funds… it is just not a priority and frankly, if they’re asking for this online most likely they’re doing it more for social recognition (I’m trans and guess what, so is my kid) than the actual cash. It is a social statement.”

Other Twitter users suggest that the father simply feels entitled to the cash for the puberty blockers so he doesn’t have to change his spending habits or adjust his budget for this cause.

Lupron, the injection that the father is trying to acquire for his daughter, has also been suspected to cause lasting health problems, primarily in children below age 13. Women who took this drug as young girls have reported harsh side effects such as insomnia, depression, joint pain, and osteopenia, a thinning of the bones, to name just a few.

Sharissa Derricott, 30, deeply regrets taking Lupron as a child. Derricott now suffers from a degenerative disc disease and fibromyalgia. Her teeth are shredding enamel and cracking. By the age of 21, she had a deteriorated jaw joint replaced.

“It just feels like I’m being punished for basically being experimented on when I was a child,” said Derricott. “I’d hate for a child to be put on Lupron, get to my age, and go through the things I have been through.”

It is sickening that this father would subject their daughter to the possibility of a life of pain because they so badly want a transgender child.
