Trump fumes and says he is 'cutting off all trade with Spain' after Prime Minister denied US permission to use its military bases to attack Iran - live updates

A furious Donald Trump has said he will cut all ties with Spain after the country denied the US permission to use their shared bases to launch attacks against Iran.

The US President also lashed out at Sir Keir Starmer, saying ‘it is not quite Winston Churchill we’re dealing with’, before adding: ‘We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain. We don’t want anything to do with Spain’.

In a press conference at the White House on Tuesday, Trump said the UK has been ‘very uncooperative’ and has ‘ruined relations’ with the US.

Earlier Trump told Iran’s surviving leaders it’s ‘too late’ to talk as US and Israeli airstrikes obliterated a building in Tehran where the new Iranian leader would be be picked.

Writing on his Truth Social account, the President said: ‘Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said “Too Late!’

His remarks come as Israeli and US strikes targeted a meeting of senior Iranian clerics tasked with choosing the next supreme leader to succeed Ayatollah Khamenei following his death on Saturday.

Meanwhile Iranian drones attacked another major Gulf oil refinery in the UAE and also targeted the site of the largest American military base in Qatar as the US-Israel war with Iran enters its fourth day.

And the US embassy in Saudi Arabia warned of ‘imminent’ missile and drone attacks in Riyadh after the building was struck by two Iranian drones last night.

Donald Trump has taunted Iran’s remaining leaders by declaring it’s ‘too late to talk’ after suggesting Tehran wanted to negotiate with the US.

In a post on his Truth Social account, the President said: ‘Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said “Too Late!’

It comes as Trump warns the ‘hardest hits’ are yet to come as the fighting entered its fourth day and promised to retaliate after the US embassy in Saudi Arabia was attacked by drones.

Trump says Iran was a month away from obtaining a nuclear weapon before June strike

Donald Trump said Iran was a month away from obtaining a nuclear weapon before the US’s June attack, known as Operation Midnight Hammer.

‘The attack that we did known as Midnight Hammer, had we not done that, Iran would’ve had a very powerful nuclear weapon within one month,’ he said.

‘Barack Hussein Obama made maybe the worst deal that I’ve ever seen because he gave all power in the Middle East to Iran. If I didn’t terminate that deal, they would be sitting with a massive nuclear weapon three years ago.’

Trump doubles down on Keir Starmer criticism

Donald Trump launched a fresh attack on Keir Starmer, saying ‘This is not Winston Churchill we are dealing with.’

Speaking in the White House, Mr Trump said he was ‘not happy’ with the UK as he hit out at the PM’s block on the US using British bases to launch attacks on Tehran.

He said the UK has been ‘very uncooperative’ and have ‘ruined relations’ over the Chagos Islands, which he branded a ‘stupid island’.

He also lashed out at London mayor Sadiq Khan, criticisng immigration in the UK.

Merz hopeful conflict in Iran will end soon

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said he is hopeful the conflict in Iran will end soon.

‘We all hope that this war will come to an end as soon as possible,’ he said.

‘So, we are hoping that the Israeli and the American army are doing the right things to bring this to an end and to have, really, a new government in place, who is coming back to peace and freedom.’

Trump surprised by Iran’s retaliation

Donald Trump said he was surprised by the countries Iran has hit with it’s retaliation strikes.

‘Amazingly, they’re hitting countries that were, you know, let’s call them neutral, right? They lived together for a long time,’ he said.

‘I think they were surprised. I was surprised, and now those countries are all fighting against them and fighting strongly against them.’

Trump brushes off concerns over oil prices

Donald Trump brushed off concerns that the attack in Iran will raise oil prices and damage the economy.

‘I’ve never had more compliments on something I did, people felt it’s something that had to be done,’ he said.

‘So if we have a little high oil prices for a little while, but as soon as this ends, those prices are going to drop, lower than even before.’

Trump lays out ‘worst case’ for Iran

Donald Trump said ‘the worst-case’ scenario for Iran would be for the new leadership to be ‘as bad as the previous person.’

‘I guess the worst case would be we do this and then somebody takes over whose as bad as the previous person, right,’ he said.

When asked who he would like to take over, Trump replied, ‘Most of the people we had in mind are dead.’

Deployment of B-52 bombers confirmed in Operation Epic Fury

According to the latest data provided by U.S. Central Command, at least 1,700 targets have been struck across Iran since the start of Operation Epic Fury on Saturday.

The department confirmed that B-52 Bombers had been deployed in the attacks.

The B-52 is capable of dropping or launching the ‘widest array of weapons in the U.S. inventory’ including ‘gravity bombs, cluster bombs, precision guided missiles and joint direct attack munitions,’ according to the US Airforce.

Trump says Keir Starmer is ‘not Winston Churchill’

Donald Trump criticized several European nation’s who are not going along with his attack in Iran.

‘We’re going to cut off all trade with Spain, we don’t want anything to do with Spain,’ he said.

‘By the way I’m not happy with the UK either. This is not Winston Churchill that we’re dealing with.’

Trump says Israel did not force him to attack Iran

Donald Trump denied a question from a reporter asking if Israel and Benjamin Netanyahu forced him to attack Iran.

‘No, I might have forced their hand,’ Trump said. ‘If anything I might have forced Israel’s hand.’

US Central Command video shows missiles launching from warship

The US Central Command posted a video of missiles deploying from warships at sea on X on Tuesday.

‘U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers are delivering unrelenting, overwhelming firepower from regional waters,’ the department wrote, before emphatically declaring ‘DAY AND NIGHT.’
