Trump Gets Big Wins in China on Iran, Trade – RedState

The Chinese are certainly pulling out all the stops and rolling out the red carpet and all the bells and whistles for President Donald Trump.

China has been put in a box with Operation Epic Fury, when so much of Iran’s oil would normally go to China. Then, too, they don’t want to get walloped with big tariffs. So they know they have to work hard.

On Thursday, Trump had a more than two-hour meeting with Xi, and it sounds like he got some big wins out of the exchange.

President Trump had a good meeting with President Xi of China. The two sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation between our two countries, including expanding market access for American businesses into China and increasing Chinese investment into our industries. Leaders from many of the United States’ largest companies joined a portion of the meeting.

The Presidents also highlighted the need to build on progress in ending the flow of fentanyl precursors into the United States, as well as increasing Chinese purchases of American agricultural products.

The two sides agreed that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open to support the free flow of energy. President Xi also made clear China’s opposition to the militarization of the Strait and any effort to charge a toll for its use, and he expressed interest in purchasing more American oil to reduce China’s dependence on the Strait in the future. Both countries agreed that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon.”

That’s big on the economic cooperation, particularly increasing purchases of American agricultural products and opening to American businesses.

According to Fox News, Trump told host Sean Hannity that Xi committed to helping the U.S. with Iran and agreed to buy U.S. soybeans, oil and liquified natural gas and other energy. Additionally, Xi said China would purchase 200 737 Boeing jets.

We mentioned before that the Iranian regime’s move to try to control the Strait of Hormuz has backfired because now more countries, including China, are looking to us for oil exports.

That last part of the White House statement is also incredibly significant, given China’s close relationship with Iran. They’re speaking against Iran’s effort to charge tolls and shoot at ships. Plus, they’re agreeing they can never have a nuclear weapon, that’s huge. On top of it all, they’re interested in buying more oil from us, so they wouldn’t be put in a box with the Strait in the future. That’s publicly throwing Iran under the bus on those issues.

I’m not sure you could walk away with a better statement from China on the issue.
