Trump’s DOJ musters ‘courage’ to ask Ghislaine Maxwell what she knows about Epstein case: Latest updates

President Donald Trump’s Oval Office press conference has been dominated by accusations against former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, accusing them of “seditious” activity, trying to lead a “coup”, and “the biggest scandal in the history of our country.”

When confronted with poll numbers that found a vast majority of Republicans want all the documents related to the Epstein case to be published, the pro-Trump businessman and self-described “Mr. Wonderful” doubled down while continuing to shrug off the controversy.

President Donald Trump spiralled in his attacks on former President Barack Obama, saying that “whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people.”

He later accused Obama of treason.

Answering questions from reporters ahead of his meeting with the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President Donald Trump said it “sounds appropriate” for the Department of Justice to interview Ghislaine Maxwell regarding the Epstein files.

Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in the sex trafficking scheme with her former boyfriend, the late disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The Justice Department is trying to quell anger from Trump’s base about its refusal to release the Epstein files, as he had promised in the 2024 election.

Trump was good friends with Epstein.

Minutes before he stepped out of the West Wing to greet President of the Republic of the Philippines Ferdinand Marcos Jr., President Donald Trump was thinking about his foes on late-night TV.

Judge Paul Engelmayer of the Southern District of New York, who is now presiding over Ghislaine Maxwell’s case regarding her involvement in sex trafficking with Jeffrey Epstein, says he received the Department of Justice’s motion for grand jury transcripts and “intends to resolve this motion expeditiously.”

However, he’s asking for a few more things, including the actual grand jury transcripts and what should be redacted, as well as statements from Maxwell and the victims on their positions on the disclosures of those documents.

Rep. Thomas Massie was asked to comment on Speaker Mike Johnson’s reaction to his legislation to force a House vote to release the Epstein files.

The Kentucky Republican said: “If we don’t take the right side of this issue, it’s going to cost us votes in the midterms…I think it could be a real problem for us. That’s why it would behoove the Speaker to bring this to the floor.”

The House Oversight Committee approved a subpoena for Ghislaine Maxwell, the onetime girlfriend of pedophile and alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, by voice vote on Tuesday.
