The story of the Washington, D.C., hoagie thrower is one that, if you weren’t paying much attention to what the rabid left had been up to over the last couple of decades, one might have found it hard to believe.
But yes. According to a police affidavit, as well as video from the scene, a man identified as 37-year-old Sean Dunn allegedly taunted U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents on a street corner in D.C. Sunday night, much in the same way we’ve seen professional woketivists get in the faces of law enforcement, before escalating matters by throwing a Subway sandwich at one of them.
Video shows officers then running after Dunn, who tried to run from them, before eventually catching up with him.

As we also reported, it was later revealed that not only would Dunn be facing felony charges, but that he also worked for the Dept of Justice’s Office of International Affairs, a position which DOJ Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Thursday that Dunn no longer held.
But Dunn is not the only one in hot water in the aftermath of his Resistance Theater; the Washington Post is as well, thanks to their focus on how Dunn was viewed as a “hero” by some on social media:
In the days after the incident, comments on the subreddit for D.C. were largely supportive of the suspect’s alleged actions. They were also full of sandwich puns. “Our hero,” wrote one user. “Our gyro*,” another corrected. The event also spawned memes and art depicting the suspect, foot-long held above his cartoon head, as a spray-painted mural over the words “Battle for D.C.”
One WaPo reporter made that aspect a focal point of a tweet he posted to X promoting the story:

Needless to say, another attempt at glamorizing leftists behaving very badly, as we saw the media do with leftist icon and alleged murderer Luigi Mangione, did not go over well with some readers:

Unfortunately, others in the MSM, like National Journal editor in chief Jeff Dufour, thought the whole incident was cute and had some suggestions for the purported “hoagie hero” and his alleged fans:
The sandwich thrower is a hero to many, though he may want to try a submarine delivery versus overhand. I would further suggest someone create an app to connect the country’s hoagie-throwing population. You could call it “Grinder.”
