On Tuesday night, Kamala Harris spoke at a pro-choice group’s annual gala, harshly condemning Republicans and Conservative justices on the Supreme Court over their move towards overturning Roe v. Wade. Two nights later, at an anti-abortion group’s gala, Mike Pence publically shot back at Harris for her comments.
On Tuesday, Harris angrily said, “Those Republican leaders who are trying to weaponize the use of the law against women, well we say, ‘How dare they! How dare they tell a woman what she can do and cannot do with her own body! How dare they! How dare they try to stop her from determining her own future! How dare they try to deny women their rights and their freedoms!’”

Then, on Thursday, Mike Pence spoke at a gala for the Carolina Pregnancy Center where he responded to Harris’ remarks, saying,
“I say, with the lives of 62 million unborn boys and girls ended in an abortion since 1973, generations of mothers enduring heartbreaking and loss that can last a lifetime, Madame Vice President, how dare you?”
“My hope, and frankly my prayer, is that those five justices on the Supreme Court have the courage of their convictions and will give us a fresh start on life in America,” Pence added.
Pence, along with other GOP members, have the opinion that the leaked Supreme Court document was used as a method of intimidation directed at Supreme Court justices.
“The Supreme Court of the United States will not be intimidated, and we will never stop fighting for the sanctity of life,” Pence said. “More than 62 million unborn children in the United States … lives of incalculable promise were ended before they were ever begun and countless young women have experienced sorrow and regret that can last a lifetime.”
“We have a historic opportunity to restore the sanctity of life to the center of American law,” said Pence. “I welcome that, and I hope and I pray that the Supreme Court of the United States draft opinion will hold and become a part of the law of the land.”
