Fan favorite Shang-Chi villain Xu Wenwu, originally played by legendary Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, has been recast for the character’s appearance in the animated Disney+ series What If..?.
What If…? is Marvel’s Disney+ series that revisits and twists classic MCU moments with alternate universe narratives of past Marvel storylines. The seventh episode of its second season, titled “What If Hela Found the Ten Rings?,”brings back the Thor: Ragnarok villain Hela (Cate Blanchett). The plot unfolds with Hela’s story mirroring Thor’s origin in Thor (2011). Instead of being sent to Hel, Odin banishes Hela to Earth, where she crosses paths with Xu Wenwu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. This unexpected encounter leads to a deadly alliance between Hela and Wenwu, culminating in a team-up battle against Odin. While Cate Blanchett reprises her role as the voice of Hela, Tony Leung’s character Wenwu is voiced by Feodor Chin, a veteran in animated projects and video games.

What to Expect From What if…? Season 2
The episode titles of What If…? Season 2 include intriguing alternate scenarios such as, “What if Nebula Joined the Nova Corps?,” “What If Peter Quill Attacked Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?,” “What If Iron Man Crashed into the Grandmaster?,” and “What if Kahhori Reshaped the World?. Season 2 explores the multiverse, re-imagining classic Marvel Cinematic moments, with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) reprising their iconic roles, while Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Steve Rogers/Captain America, and Tony Stark/Iron-Man are played by the new voice actors that voiced them in season one of What If…? respectively.
