Loid Forger is known as the greatest agent in the Westalian Intelligence Services’ Eastern-Focused Division (WISE). He is a smooth manipulator and a master of disguise. Yet, for all his accolades, Loid has some glaring flaws. Whether it’s because of his time as a spy or his militaristic upbringing, there are some aspects of life that Loid just can’t seem to get right or overcome.
Loid easily blends into roles all the time for his job, but he hasn’t been part of a true family since he was a young child. Now that he has a wife and a daughter, Loid finds it increasingly difficult to keep his family happy and to keep his current mission separate from his emotions. Loid has innumerable positive qualities, but his flaws are what make him lovable.

10 Yor’s Cooking Is Poisonous
Being a part of a family typically means sharing household tasks. Yet, cooking still often falls to the female partner in heterosexual relationships. Yor Briar takes her new role as a wife and mother very seriously and accepts the traditional roles that are typically expected of females. Unfortunately for her and her family, her cooking is potentially deadly.
Loid has built up a net tolerance for poisons, but Yor’s cooking sometimes escapes even those barriers. Yor’s food is so inedible that Loid often feels sick just from looking at it. Loid already has a lot on his plate, work-wise. But he gladly takes on all the household cooking if it means living through the end of a meal.
9 Anya’s Grades Threaten Operation Strix

Spy x Family’s Anya Teams Up With Newest Disney Princess in Special Collab
In an official collaboration between Spy x Family and Disney’s Wish, Anya teams up with Princess Asha in a special visual under the stars.
The biggest part of Operation Strix is to get Anya into the elite Eden Academy scholar club, the Imperial Scholars. Students win Stella either by having good grades or achieving greatness in other fields. Sadly, Anya is not especially talented at any hobbies and is not a gifted student.
Anya’s grades are a constant source of stress for Loid. Not only will she not get Stella if she doesn’t have good grades, but she risks flunking out of school and having to begin the whole project all over again. A lot is riding on Anya’s grades and Loid has trouble giving her the benefit of the doubt and allowing her to be a kid.
8 Yuri Briar Is Suspicious
Yuri Briar is Loid’s brother-in-law and has become somewhat of a threat. Not only does Yuri despise Loid for marrying his sister, Yor, but Loid correctly suspects that Yuri is working for the Ostanian State Secret Service.
This is a problem for Loid as a foreign spy. If Yuri catches on to Loid, the mission would be a failure and Loid would most likely be put on trial for espionage. This could also spark an all-out war with Westalis since the two countries have a strained relationship at best. Yuri threatens everything that Loid stands for, and he could cause major consequences, not only for Loid but for the whole world.
7 Overworking Has Loid Feeling Low
As the best agent at WISE, Loid is often tasked with not only the most complicated cases but also innumerable others. Whether it’s simple surveillance or defusing bombs, Loid never says no to a mission.
However, this non-stop work-life has set Loid back a little. Though he doesn’t easily get sick, the constant missions mean that he has to be on his game at all hours of every day so as not to raise suspicions. Not to mention that all his work is starting to take a physical toll on him. If Loid wantss to continue being a spy, he needs to learn to prioritize his mental and physical health so he can do his job.
6 Overanalyzing Slows Loid Down

Every Spy x Family Arc, Ranked
Some Spy x Family arcs stand out for their outstanding comedy skits and/or rich personal developments for Loid, Yor, and Anya Forger—or even Damien.
Part of being a great spy is noticing the little things. Aspects such as a missing wedding band or the way a person twirls their hair can mean the difference between a successful and failed mission. Unfortunately, Loid sometimes goes overboard with his analytical brain and either reads too much into a situation or misinterprets it entirely.
Loid’s overanalyzing not only takes precious time away from his other missions but also causes him further undue stress. Not everything is as in-depth as he seems to think it is, yet Loid continues to overthink every interaction and perception. Trust is hard for Loid to come by, but he needs to have some faith in others so that he can focus on more important matters.
5 Perfectionism Causes Loid Stress
Being the best spy in an entire country has its perks, but it also comes with a lot of pressure. As the number one WISE agent, Loid has a lot to live up to in order to maintain his status. This often means that Loid focuses too much on things being perfect, rather than letting unimportant details go.
Loid’s perfectionism forces him to work twice as hard, leading to more stress and potential errors. Perfection is what Loid’s coworkers have come to expect from him. But his level of needing things to be in order will burn him out too quickly if he doesn’t allow for some detail to pass his notice.
4 Anxiety Brings Loid To A Standstill
In a high-stakes job like espionage, there is always going to be some degree of stress. However, Loid’s anxiety often seems so great that it causes him physical pain. Whenever he thinks something isn’t going his way, or he discovers a mistake, his stomach starts to hurt. His anxiety-induced queasiness interrupts his everyday life as he tries to make all his plans run smoothly.
Loid facilitates lots of tasks at once, but the stress levels of all his missions leave him feeling on edge. This can cause him to burn out – forcing him to rest when his time could be better spent elsewhere. Loid needs to find new ways to manage his anxiety or all of it will continue to negatively affect him and his work.
3 Loid Doesn’t Understand Women
For as great of a spy as Loid is, Loid has yet to master the art of reading women. Although he can easily manipulate women during his missions, he can’t always understand them when it counts. This is especially true when it comes to Yor and his coworker, Fiona Frost.
For years, Loid has read Fiona’s drive as simply wanting to be a great spy, but her true reason is that she is infatuated with him. If Loid looked more critically at their working relationship, he could see Fiona’s feelings and be more aware of the way he speaks to her, so he doesn’t accidentally lead her on. Yor, on the other hand, simply wants to be a good wife but is embarrassed by romance. Loid often overlooks Yor’s insecurities and tries to lean too much into their husband-and-wife relationship. Loid may be an expert spy, but he still has a lot to learn when it comes to socialization.
2 Romance Isn’t Loid’s Strong Suit

REVIEW: Spy x Family’s Season 2 Premiere is a Funny and Strong Return to an Already Amazing Series
Spy x Family season two dropped this week and fans are elated. Here is CBR’s review of the premiere.
Romance is one of the areas that Loid struggles with the most. The majority of his knowledge seems to derive from stories, films, and movies. Loid often attempts to make sweeping gestures to get back into Yor’s good graces, but he instead embarrasses her – further complicating the situation.
Yor is a rather special case in the romance department, as most women would fall right into Loid’s seductions. However, Yor requires a lot more subtlety than Loid has yet to understand. Loid struggles with appearing like a loving husband because he doesn’t understand that the little things often count more than grand gestures.
1 Loid Is Falling For His Family
Loid is typically an unfeeling individual. He can fake most emotions and only has to hold them for a short while during missions. Sadly for him, Operation Strix is a long game that requires Loid to appear more vulnerable than he has been before.
It’s been decades since Loid was part of a family, and having Yor and Anya in his life has started to bleed into his real emotions. Playing family with people as caring as Yor and Anya has seduced Loid into letting his guard down just enough that he is starting to feel true affection for them. Loid may not entirely believe it yet, but he has already fallen for his fake family, which may complicate Operation Strix both during and especially after the mission.
