The Chair is one of the biggest shows coming to Netflix this month. August hasn’t featured any of the streaming service’s big shows so The Chair has no competition. The cast alone makes this a must-watch, and the premise is just the icing on an already amazing cake.

The Chair stars Sandra Oh as  Dr. Ji-Yoon Kim, the new head of the college English department at a major university. She is one of a few people of color at the college and the first woman of color to hold her new position.

But while it’s great that she pushing down barriers for women of color, the new job is not as great as it might seem. The English department is failing and one of the professors is shadowed in scandal. It also doesn’t help that said professor… well, she might have feelings for him. It’s complicated.

She also wonders whether she got the position because her bosses knew what was waiting for her and wanted a woman of color in charge when it all came crashing to the ground. Sandra Oh is going to kill it in this role, but when is the new series coming to Netflix?

The Chair season 1 release time

Season 1 of The Chair hits Netflix on Friday, Aug. 20 at 12:01 a.m PT or 3:01 a.m. ET. All six episodes will available to stream immediately. With this many episodes, you can easily binge-watch it in a day and still rewatch a few episodes of your comfort show before you go to bed.

Hopefully, enough people watch it that we get a season 2. There really can never be enough Sandra Oh on our TV screens. Whether it’s as a doctor or an agent chasing down an assassin, she’s good in everything she’s in.

The series also features Jay Duplass, Holland Taylor, Bob Balaban, Nana Mensah and David Morse.
