Where were you when you first heard the lies about abortion? They go something like this. “Abortion is about freedom, health care, compassion, and hard cases.” Of course, it could never possibly be about convenience, never about preference, and certainly never about eliminating the “wrong” kind of child.
A recent investigation by Mail on Sunday begs to differ.

According to the report, the United Kingdom is now seeing a record imbalance in birth ratios among Indian parents, with far more boys being born than girls. This is not to be confused with a rounding error or a statistical fluke. This pattern is forcing the experts to admit the obvious: Female fetuses are being selectively aborted because they are female. Cultural pressure for sons, family coercion, and a medical system willing to look the other way have combined into something ugly and unmistakable.
Preferential killing. Based on sex.
This is not an accusation from pro-life activists, Christian conservatives, or “far-right extremists. This is the math speaking for itself. And here is the part the abortion lobby does not want to touch. This outcome is not a bug in abortion culture. It is a designed feature.
When a society declares that life in the womb has no inherent value, then value must come from somewhere else. Gender. Ability. Convenience. Family preference. Economic pressure. Once you say that a child’s right to live is conditional, the only question left is who gets to decide which children qualify.
Here in America, we have completely waved goodbye to “safe, legal, and rare.” Abortions are a preferred form of birth control, and somehow deserve to be celebrated. I mean, what shouts “women’s rights” louder than killing baby girls, right?

According to a recent study by the Society of Family Planning, in the first six months of 2025, a total of 591,770 abortions were provided by the U.S healthcare system. A staggering 27 percent of those were accomplished via telehealth, which involves mailing medical abortion pills.
In the UK, sex-selective abortion is technically illegal. The government insists that the law is clear and urges anyone with evidence to report it. That sounds nice in a press release. However, the entire abortion framework depends on not asking too many questions. Doctors are discouraged from taking a real look into motives. Clinics operate on speed and volume. Privacy is treated as sacred, even when it shields abuse.
And yes, abuse is the right word.
We have to add the far too obvious. Many of these abortions are likely not “choices” at all. Women face intense pressure from husbands, in-laws, and extended family to produce a son. A daughter is seen as a burden. A failure. Something to be erased before she ever draws breath.
A Right to Life spokesman added:
“Because many minority communities in the UK have relatively small numbers of births, even proportionally high numbers of female baby girls having their lives ended by sex-selective abortion would not show up as a statistically significant distortion in the birth ratios for these communities. So this data is very likely to underestimate the number of sex-selective abortions in the UK.”
This is where the moral contradiction becomes impossible to ignore. The same political class that lectures endlessly about gender equality and women’s rights has created a system that allows unborn girls to be eliminated precisely because they are girls. Feminism, meet reality. You cannot build a culture on the idea that life is disposable and then act shocked when people dispose of lives they do not want.
This pattern is not unique to the UK. Sex-selective abortion has ravaged parts of India and China for decades, leaving tens of millions of “missing women” and a generation of men who cannot find wives. The social consequences are catastrophic. Increased trafficking, forced marriages, and violence against women are proof. Western elites used to shake their heads at those societies and declare, with smug certainty, that “We would never do that.” We are doing it now, just with better branding.
I have a sister who loves her daughter fiercely. She talks about protecting my niece’s future, her rights, her autonomy. She will loudly defend “choice” as something sacred she wants to preserve for her child. It breaks my heart to hear someone fight so hard for “choice” in the name of protecting her daughter’s future, while ignoring that the same logic once denied that daughter the right to live at all. I cannot reconcile celebrating her life now with defending a system that would have allowed her to be erased before she ever took a breath. If her life is sacred today, then it was sacred then. Otherwise, when tucking her in at night, as you assure her that you’ll fight for her right to choose, you must also lean down and whisper, “I had the right to kill you.”
This is not a political argument for me. It is a moral ache that refuses to go away.
The defenders of abortion will respond, as they always do, by insisting this is a narrow cultural problem, not an indictment of abortion itself. That argument collapses under basic logic. The law did not force anyone to abort female fetuses. It simply made it possible. And once it was possible, predictable evil followed. That is the lesson history keeps teaching us, and the abortion industry keeps ignoring.
When you teach a culture that some lives do not matter, do not act shocked when it decides which ones matter least.
