A woman has been charged in relation to an allegedly staged armed robbery on a luxury jewellery store.

Michel Elisa Germani, 65, is the owner of Germani Jewellery, on George Street in Sydney’s QVB, and has been accused of orchestrating the robbery in an attempt to defraud an insurance company of $2.8million.

Police allege he and a female employee, 47, were held at knife point by two men who had scheduled an appointment with the CEO and founder on January 19.

The two men allegedly stole jewellery before fleeing.

Germani and two other men have been charged in relation to the incident, with NSW Police alleging on Friday 57-year-old Giulia Penna had helped plan the robbery.

Penna was charged with aggravated robbery and deprive a person of liberty, accessory before the fact, and participate in a criminal group.

She was due to face Burwood Local Court on Friday.

Police said the two men in the store allegedly threatened the owner and demanded access to the safe.

Germani was charged earlier this month with four offences, including one count of attempting to dishonestly obtain a financial advantage by deception and one count of publish false or misleading material to obtain property.

Police will allege that following the alleged robbery, Germani attempted to lodge a claim with Barrenjoey Insurance to the tune of $2,821,348.

Tofaeono was refused bail and is scheduled to return to a Sydney court on June 8.
