On Wednesday morning, ICE agents raided a home in San Diego to apprehend a thrice-deported illegal alien who is also a convicted pedophile and known gang member. Unlike your garden-variety pedophile gang member, this creep’s home was also the location of his wife’s home day care operation. And his wife, Dulce Villagomez, is a SEIU activist, proudly working alongside California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the unionization of day care workers.
This picture, and the backstory, perfectly encapsulate the relationship between California Democrats like Gavin Newsom, activist organizations like SEIU (let’s be real; its purpose is no-borders socialism, not representing workers), gangs, and criminal illegal aliens.

In addition, it once again demonstrates that Democrats don’t care at all about protecting children.
Ezequiel Cruz-Rodriguez, 47, a Mexican national, has an extensive criminal record and was first removed from the United States on August 23, 1996, after a final order of removal by an immigration judge, then again on October 28, 2003, and then on December 14, 2012, according to a press release from ICE. He is also a confirmed member of the Logan Heights gang.

Patrick Divver, ICE San Diego Field Director, detailed Cruz’s criminal background in an X post:
“This individual is an unregistered convicted child sex offender with prior convictions of possession of a firearm, DUI, domestic violence, battery, assault, brandishing a firearm, illegal reentry, robbery and illegal reentry after removal.”
More specifically, he was convicted of sexual assault involving a child under age 14 and sexual battery. Given those charges, it’s stomach-churning to see how he’s posed in this 2015 photo from his wife’s Facebook page (archive link).
Of Cruz’s arrest, a senior DHS official said:
“It is SICKENING to think this pedophile criminal illegal alien was residing inside the home where a daycare operates and hiding out in a sanctuary city. Thanks to the brave work of our ICE law enforcement officers, this criminal illegal alien, convicted pedophile, and known Logan Heights gang member—will no longer be able to prey on children inside a daycare. Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, sickos like this will not walk free in the U.S.”
Villagomez’s day care, Little Hands Academy Family Child Care, was licensed through the State of California. According to California Department of Social Services (CDSS) records, the facility was first licensed in 2016, and there are no complaints or violations listed. An unannounced inspection was conducted in April 2023, at which time Villagomez was reminded, according to the report:
Licensee [or facility was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home.
If Cruz has been living there this entire time, did Villagomez disclose that to regulators or not? NBC San Diego reports that CDSS confirmed that it’s now investigating the day care center, but it’s a little late. An independent investigation needs to be conducted (perhaps by the federal government) to determine how this facility was initially licensed and maintained its licensure with this monster living there.
Of course, Villagomez’s political activity might have had something to do with that. Let’s not forget that SEIU is one of the biggest backers of both Newsom and the anti-ICE riots in Southern California. So, will he come out and praise this arrest? Something tells me that he might have to.
