Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a Dallas man, has been arrested and charged after allegedly beheading Chandra Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old man, during an argument over a broken washing machine.

More Details On The Beheading Of 50-Year-Old Chandra Nagamallaiah Reportedly During Argument Over Broken Washing Machine
According to NBC 5 DFW, the fatal incident occurred on Wednesday, September 10, before 9:30 a.m. Per a witness, a man was heard yelling for help as he ran toward his wife and son, who were reportedly in the motel office at the Downtown Suites.
Per the outlet, an arrest affidavit asserts that the suspect was “cleaning a room with a co-worker” when Nagamallaiah entered and instructed him “not to use a broken washing machine.” According to the co-worker, Cobos-Martinez “became upset” that Nagamallaiah was speaking to his co-worker and instructing her to translate his words.
“Video shows the suspect then exited the motel room and produced a machete from his person and started cutting and stabbing the complainant multiple times,” the affidavit reportedly reads.
As the attack commenced, Nagamallaiah ran to his family. Furthermore, his wife and son reportedly tried to stop the attack. However, Cobos-Martinez “continued striking” the 50-year-old, ultimately beheading him. Per NBC 5 DFW, Cobos-Martinez even kicked Nagamallaiah’s head into the motel’s parking, and allegedly threw it in a dumpster.
“I feel bad for his family because he got a wife, they came out and they didn’t know what to do, she was screaming, hollering, but I told her to get back because I didn’t know if he was going to attack her too,” the witness reportedly told CBS News.

According to the outlet, Cobos-Martinez was still armed with the machete when police arrived at the scene. Additionally, he reportedly had the victim’s phone and keycard on his body. During questioning, he admitted to killing the 50-year-old and has since been charged with capital murder.
Per NBC 5 DFW, he has since been identified as a Cuban national and has been placed on an ICE hold at Dallas County Jail. Additionally, police have since identified Nagamallaiah as a manager at the motel.
