La Liga-bound Bojan Miovski was visibly upset after his side's 3-1 win over St Mirren

Aberdeen are close to finalising a club record £7million deal for the sale of Bojan Miovski to Girona.

A substitute for the final moments of Aberdeen’s 3-1 win over St Mirren the 25-year-old striker said an emotional farewell to the Pittodrie home crowd after the final whistle.

The subject of an unsuccessful bid from Girona’s Spanish rivals Espanyol and interest from Italian club Genoa, the 25-year-old will now become Aberdeen’s record sale after 44 goals in 97 games for Aberdeen.

A £600,000 signing from MTK Budapest in June 2022, Miovski is expected to fly to Spain to complete formalities on an overall package worth £7million in the next 48 hours.

Speaking after goals from Pape Habib Gueye, Jamie McGrath and Vicente Besuijen made it six Dons wins from six under Jimmy Thelin, the new manager was tight-lipped on Miovski’s future.

‘I can’t say anything about that,’ said the Swede. ‘There is still strong interest in him but that is all I can say.’

Thelin was more effusive after seeing his side make it six wins from six matches in all competitions since his arrival.

‘There were a lot of emotions and good feelings,’ he said. ‘It was an exciting game, but then St Mirren score in the last second of the first half, which can be difficult.

‘The supporters backed us at half time and the players remained calm and trusted the way we have to perform together. We still have parts to improve but they found a way to win.

‘The players are training hard and we need a strong squad and a strong group of players in terms of character.’
