Fans have taken to social media to hail Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister for his incredible goal against Fulham, with some calling it the goal of the season.

The Argentine picked the ball up in midfield before striding forward and unleashing an unstoppable strike from 30 yards out, which flew past Bernd Leno.

There was controversy prior to the goal as the Fulham goalkeeper was allowed to stay on the pitch despite receiving medical treatment for an eye injury as fans suggested he shouldn’t have been allowed to continue due to the severity of the injury.

Mac Allister’s incredible strike comes just days after Man United winger Alejandro Garnacho scored a brilliant bicycle kick against Everton.

Fans have since taken to social media to compare the two, with some suggesting that Mac Allister’s strike is even better than his national team-mate’s.

One fan made his opinion clear as he simply wrote: ‘Mac Allister > Garnacho’.

Another wrote: ‘Sorry Mac Allister, Garnacho’s is still goal of the season’.

Other fans have stated that Mac Allister’s strike will contend with Garnacho’s to win the award, stating: #Mac Allister!!! Screamer!!!!! Goal of the Season Contender’.

However, a Liverpool fan took to X to share his belief that Garnacho will win the Goal of the Month award ahead of Mac Allister.

They said: ‘Shame Mac Allister didn’t score that goal last month so it’d win GOTM instead of Garnacho’s’.

Further supporters decided not to compare the two and instead praised Mac Allister’s strike for just how good it was.

‘Take a bow Mac Allister, that’s an unbelievable goal,’ one wrote.

Another user finalised by revealing how Mac Allister made him eat his own words.

They wrote: ‘I started to roll my eyes when Mac Allister was about to shoot, as soon as that left his foot my eyes quickly unrolled themselves, that was unbelievable!’
