Arsenal 1-2 Bournemouth: Gunners throw away lead after Declan Rice's opener as Mikel Arteta's reluctance to rotate backfires

Arsenal threw away a 1-0 lead against Bournemouth at the Emirates – just days before their Champions League semi-final second leg against PSG.

Declan Rice had given the Gunners the lead before the break but second-half goals from Dean Huijsen and Evanilson sank them.

Mikel Arteta will be eager for his men to not let the season peter out despite Liverpool having already won the Premier League title.

While Arsenal remain second, Bournemouth climb to eighth after inflicting the Gunners’ second home league defeat of the season.

Arteta made just two changes from the side that lost 1-0 to PSG on Tuesday, with Arsenal still needing to ensure Champions League football for next season, though that decision raised eyebrows.

Thomas Partey and Ben White came into the side while Mikel Merino and Jurrien Timber dropped out.
