Barcelona made a huge error by playing Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ over their PA system following their 5-3 defeat at home to Villarreal.

Xavi’s side suffered further frustration as they ended up losing despite having been 3-2 up in the 84th minute.

To make matters worse, the PA system at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys played ‘Yellow’ after the game, seemingly not taking into consideration that Villarreal are known as ‘The Yellow Submarine’.

Villarreal had established a 2-0 lead, with Gerard Moreno and former Barcelona player Ilias Akhomach scoring.

There was hope for Barcelona as they managed to turn matters around, with Ilkay Gundogan firstly reducing the deficit.

Gundogan then turned provider for Pedri to make it 2-2 before an own goal from Eric Bailly put Barcelona in the lead.

However, Villarreal fought back, with Goncalo Guedes getting the equaliser.

Villarreal then inflicted more misery on Barcelona as Alexander Sorloth made it 4-3 in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

Three minutes later Villarreal made it 5-3 as Jose Luis Morales scored.

Barcelona are currently third in LaLiga, behind Real Madrid and Girona. Xavi’s side are ten points adrift of leaders Real with both teams having played 21 games.
