BBC presenter Steve Crossman (C) revealed he suffered an epileptic seizure at the World Cup

BBC presenter Steve Crossman has revealed he suffered an epileptic seizure while he was live on air during the World Cup.

Crossman is a Radio Five Live presenter and is out in North America for the tournament.

He has bravely spoken publicly about living with epilepsy, and has been involved in several campaigns that aim to raise awareness and reduce stigma around the condition.

And, taking to X on Thursday evening, the presenter shared that he had a seizure during one of his recent presenting gigs.

‘So, I had a seizure whilst on air in Mexico not long after arriving at the World Cup,’ he wrote.

‘I stuck it out, inspired by my sister who never let her epilepsy stop her. It’s been tough BUT I’ve been surrounded by amazing @5liveSport friends.’

Crossman has previously revealed that his sister Jill tragically passed away due to epilepsy, and he is set to run the 2027 London Marathon to raise funds for the Epilepsy Society, a charity that supports those living with the condition.

On the NHS website, epilepsy is described as ‘a condition that affects your brain and causes seizures (sometimes called fits). It cannot currently be cured, but treatment can often help manage it.’

Symptoms of seizures can include your body becoming stiff or floppy, jerking or twitching movements in your body, suddenly falling to the floor, losing awareness of what’s around you and unusual feelings or sensations.

They usually last a few seconds or minutes and come to a stop by themselves.

At the World Cup, Crossman has been one of the lead presenters on the radio alongside Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman.
