Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu is wanted by Bournemouth as they seek a replacement for Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth are exploring a move for Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu as they assess candidates to replace Antoine Semenyo.

Fatawu has been a big hit at the King Power Stadium since joining from Sporting Lisbon and has attracted attention from clubs in the Premier League with energetic and exciting performances over what has been a difficult couple of seasons for the Foxes.

He scored an outstanding individual goal from inside his own half against Ipswich Town earlier this month and has scored four in total this season.

Bournemouth expect to lose Semenyo in the coming days with Manchester City in prime position to sign him and Liverpool hovering in the wings. His £60million plus £5m clause expires around January 10 and official proposals are expected this week.

Bournemouth have asked about the likes of Nottingham Forest’s James McAtee but Fatawu is viewed as more of a direct replacement for Semenyo as a pacy and skilful, left-sided winger who can create and score goals.

Sunderland and Everton asked about Fatawu last summer with Leicester holding out for over £30m. Crystal Palace also held interest prior to him signing for Leicester but Bournemouth will discuss whether to make their move in the coming days as they sift through potential targets.
