Burnley have launched an investigation after an Everton fan gatecrashed their coaches’ room before Saturday’s clash at Turf Moor.

Amid staggering scenes the Toffees follower was eventually led away by an irate Clarets assistant manager Craig Bellamy ahead of the visitors’ 2-0 victory in Lancashire.

The fan is thought to have simply strolled from the concourse of the away end through an unguarded door moments before kick-off, startling Bellamy and other members of staff as they finalised their matchday preparations.

He is thought to have cheekily asked Vincent Kompany’s No 2 for a selfie before those inside realised what was going on and demanded he hand over his phone.

Eventually, Bellamy escorted the punter back through the door and onto the concourse, but not before he had taken a picture which he later shared on social media.

The incident was one of a number of issues the home club are investigating after what was a feisty fixture which saw former manager Sean Dyche leave with three points.

Ahead of the game there were concerns that the late kick-off time, coupled with the friction between the two clubs following Everton’s 10-point deduction for breaching financial rules and Burnley’s ongoing attempt to sue them, could result in a tumultuous occasion.

That subsequently proved to be the case.

On Monday, Burnley, who remain second from bottom of the Premier League after the loss, said they had launched an ‘immediate internal enquiry’ as a result of away supporters infiltrating home sections of the ground.
