Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign 16-year-old Ecuador defender Deinner Ordonez

Chelsea have secured their newest starlet signing in 16-year-old Deinner Ordonez.

The teenager who plays for Independiente del Valle – Moises Caicedo’s former club – will join once eligible after turning 18.

There is a club-to-club agreement in place as well as one with the player, who is a defender, having agreed to move to Stamford Bridge.

Ordonez will pen a long-term contract, the details of which has not yet been revealed by sources.

He is set to join in 2028 and has been capped up to Under-20 level with Ecuador.

Chelsea have a strong relationship with Independiente, the Ecuadorian club.

It is further evidence of Chelsea sticking to their strategy in trying to find the young talents of tomorrow before they are evident to everyone else in the scouting network.

They have found success in others, such as Estevao Willian, the 18-year-old Brazilian who has taken Chelsea by storm this season.

The teenager has been pushing for his first Premier League start since September with the Blues facing Burnley next after the international break.

His competition on Chelsea’s right wing is Pedro Neto, who has skipped this international break with Portugal to try to let a minor injury heal.
