Man City have already wrapped up the Premier League title heading into the final weekend

Who will avoid Premier League relegation and who is destined for the drop? Mail Sport’s CHRIS SUTTON offers his predictions for the final weekend of the season

  • Chris Sutton has given his verdict on the final Premier League weekend
  • Everton will beat Bournemouth to keep their English top-fight status
  • While Manchester City will impress again in London against Brentford

The 2022/23 Premier League season is on it’s last lap as this weekend prepares to rubber-stamp the closing of another English top-flight campaign.

The title has already been decided with Manchester City wrapping up a third consecutive crown with a week to spare, but there is still plenty to fight for.

Everton, Leicester, and Leeds are locked in a three-way relegation fight, but only one of those will avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship on the curtain-closing day of the season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, Manchester United and shock contenders Newcastle have wrapped up the remaining Champions League qualification places behind City.

Mail Sport’s Chris Sutton gives his Premier League predictions for the final weekend of action.

Arsenal 2 Wolves 0

This is a dead rubber but Arsenal will still finish the season in style in front of their home supporters.

Aston Villa 1 Brighton 1

Villa beat Brighton earlier this season but I’m not sure they will do the same tomorrow. The Seagulls may field a rotated side yet they are still soaring after securing their golden ticket to Europe.

Brentford 1 Man City 2

Completing the league double over Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions would top a brilliant season for Brentford. It will be close, but I expect City to pull through.

Chelsea 0 Newcastle 2

Newcastle may be on the beach having secured their Champions League spot but they will still have too much for Chelsea. The Blues have been woeful this season.

Crystal Palace 2 Nottingham Forest 0

I’m not sure many could have done a better job than Roy Hodgson at Palace and his side should finish the season with a home win.

Everton 1 Bournemouth 0

It will be a nervous day for Sean Dyche and his team if this game is as close as I think it will be. But I reckon they’ll have enough to pull through and survive.

Leeds 1 Tottenham 1

Even Big Sam has looked at a loss over how to shore up Leeds at the back. I don’t see them winning this one against a Spurs side who have blown hot and cold all season.

Leicester 2 West Ham 1

Dean Smith took a big gamble thinking they could draw at Newcastle, win this game and stay up. The first two parts can go to plan but the third is out of their hands.

Man United 2 Fulham 1

There were plenty of fireworks when these sides last met and, although Marco Silva’s side will make a good fist of it again this time, United should have too much for them.

Southampton 0 Liverpool 2

The Saints owe their fans a big performance after a dismal season but I don’t think they’ll deliver it. Jurgen Klopp’s side will finish with a comfortable win on the south coast.
