Liverpool’s hopes of securing a late penalty were dashed in their 1-1 draw against Manchester City when Jeremy Doku’s high boot caught Alexis Mac Allister.

Despite a VAR review, the decision not to award the spot-kick stood as the game reached its closing moments.

In a pivotal match for both teams amid the intense Premier League title race, City broke the deadlock first with a well-executed corner routine finished by John Stones, igniting celebrations among their traveling fans.

However, Liverpool swiftly responded, capitalising on a reckless challenge by goalkeeper Ederson on Darwin Nunez in the box.

Mac Allister calmly converted the resulting penalty, allowing the hosts an equaliser before a dominant second-half performance.
