Manchester City star Erling Haaland has raged against one of his former clubs on social media

Erling Haaland has launched a furious rant at one of his former clubs on the back of an eyebrow-raising decision made by the team.

The striker has risen to the top of the world game, winning the Treble in his first season with Manchester City in the 2022-23 campaign, while he is also one of the highest-paid players in the world.

He had to work his way up, though. Now 25, Haaland has so far played for five different clubs, culminating in Manchester City in England.

Despite being born in Leeds because his father, Alf-Inge, was playing for the side at the time, Haaland represents Norway on the international stage and that is where he grew up. His first team was Bryne FK, who play in the country.

Having joined their academy in 2005, Haaland went onto play at the club until 2017, when he joined Molde. He then took the path of joining RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and then City.

And the star has, in somewhat of a shock twist, launched a social media tirade against Byrne. It came after a decision to release three players from their contracts during the season.

In a statement revealing the news, Byrne, who are 14th out of 16 in the Norwegian Eliteserien, said: ‘We have agreed to terminate the contracts with Axel Kryger, Jens Husebo and Robert Undheim.

‘We thank them for their commitment to the red and white team and wish them continued success.’ No reason for the decision was given.

Haaland seemingly saw the news, and didn’t think twice about taking to social media to give his views. A regular Snapchat user, Haaland posted to his account: ‘Speak out, Bryne FK. What the hell is going on?’

After a follower told Haaland, who is off on international duty with Norway, that he should be sleeping, the star replied: ‘Yes, I should, but there is chaos at my home club, and it makes me angry, so now I can’t sleep.’

Norwegian outlet NRK said they have been in contact with Undheim, who opted not to comment, but did write: ‘But never doubt that I love Bryne FK’.

Kryger, meanwhile, said: ‘We chose to go our separate ways. That’s how it had to be, and both the club and I agreed on that. I wish Bryne all the best and have had a great time there. It ended badly, but that’s how it is sometimes.’

Haaland played 16 times for Byrne. He has scored three goals in three Premier League appearances so far this season, despite City losing two of those games.
