Hearts could eventually coin in £2million from Keir McMeekin’s imminent move to Manchester City.
The Gorgie starlet, who’s just turned 16, is poised to sign a pre-contract agreement with the English Premier League giants, with the move set to be formalised in the summer.
It’s understood that the Tynecastle club will get a minimum of £600,000 in training compensation from the deal. However, this figure could rise to as high as £2m if the midfielder plays a set number of first-team games at the Etihad.
McMeekin was wanted by a string of top English clubs as he weighed up whether to sign his first professional contract at Tynecastle.

Manchester United, Brighton and Liverpool all battled for the player’s signature before he settled on City after they gave him and his family a tour of their training facilities.
Although a regular in B team manager Andy Kirk’s squads, McMeekin hasn’t played for the first-team although he has trained with them and featured in a couple of closed door matches at the start of this season.
Daily Mail Sport last week revealed that the Scotland youth cap is on the radar of England and Northern Ireland. Although born and raised in Fife, the midfielder could play for countries other than Scotland due to his grandparents.
