Valiant defending from Southampton denied Manchester United three clear goalscoring opportunities within seconds of each other during the first half of their Saturday lunchtime Premier League clash.
First Anthony Elanga’s powerful shot was saved at the near post by Saints goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu in the 19th minute of play at St Mary’s.
Then Bruno Fernandes attempted an aerial attempt to put the ball towards the goal from Bazunu’s parry, but this was blocked, before the ball fell to Danish striker Christian Eriksen, whose shot on target was blocked by a sliding tackle from the last Southampton defender.

Southampton were also able to prevent Manchester United from scoring from a corner which came about following the goalmouth scramble.
