It’s that time of the year again – the transfer window is now open until September 1 and it’s sure to be a busy period with clubs looking to make big signings ahead of next season. Here are today’s latest developments from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team…

Porto eye Sunderland star

Sunderland’s Eliezer Mayenda is a target for Porto. The 21-year-old forward made 23 appearances for the Black Cats last season.

Sunderland have already rejected an £8m bid from Chelsea for Granit Xhaka.

Hull have competition for Belgium veteran

Valencia are looking to beat Hull to the signing of Thomas Meunier.

Daily Mail Sport reported last week on the Tigers’ interested in the 34-year-old Belgium international, who is leaving Lille this summer a free agent.

Meunier, who turns 35 in September, has previously played for Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea keep tabs on Chavvaria

Chelsea are interested in Rayo Vallecano left back Pep Chavarria, 28.

The Blues, who sold Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid for £51.8m, have already signed Marco Palestra – named Seria A defender of the year last season – as cover at full-back in a deal worth more than £48m.

He became the first signing of the Xabi Alonso era.

Coventry eye Swiss defender

Coventry City are exploring a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt defender Aurele Amenda.

The 6ft 6in centre back, 22, is part of Switzerland’s World Cup squad and has also drawn attention from Celtic and Valencia over the past 12 months.

Hull rebuffed in Emersonn bid

Hull City have had a formal £17.3m bid for Toulouse striker Emersonn rejected.

Daily Mail Sport revealed earlier this month that Hull had been rebuffed over their opening proposal.

The offer is understood to have been £15.1m plus £2.2m in add-ons.

Butland set for Premier League return as Pandur heads north

Hull City goalkeeper Ivor Pandur is closing on a move to Rangers in a £6m deal, with former England international Jack Butland heading in the opposite direction for £3m.

The Premier League new boys want two new goalkeepers and 33-year-old Butland brings ready-made experience of the top flight, having played for both Stoke and Crystal Palace before his 2023 move north.

Pandur is away on World Cup duty with Croatia. His departure and the impending sale of Kyle Joseph to Middlesbrough for £5million will enable Hull to clear their Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) deficit.

Joseph had an offer from Millwall initially, but Boro are now pushing to get a deal done. He is expected to have a medical at Middlesbrough today.

The 24-year-old scored eight goals and provided five assists for Hull last season, despite only starting 27 of the 46 Championship games in the regular campaign.
