Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham is to re-join the England squad after last month's snub

Jude Bellingham will be recalled to the England squad by Thomas Tuchel on Friday.

The Real Madrid midfielder was left out of last month’s matches against Wales and Latvia despite declaring himself available following shoulder surgery.

Tuchel has spoken repeatedly about the want for his players to be good team-mates and of his desire to create togetherness within the squad.

It was in June that he revealed his own mother found some of Bellingham’s on-field behaviour ‘repulsive’.

It led to the possibility of the German pressing ahead with World Cup preparations without one of his most gifted players, especially when he praised the attitude of the players selected in his absence.

However, Bellingham – who has returned to form with Real in recent weeks – will be included in the squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Latvia later this month.

He was one of the few players in Xabi Alonso’s side to perform well in the 1-0 defeat by Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday night.

When asked about whether he’d get the England call-up afterwards, he told Amazon Prime: ‘It’s not my call. I think you know whose call it is.

‘I would love to be but it’s not my call. I’ll be waiting to see.’

Bellingham feels he’s getting back to his best after a difficult few weeks. He recently added after scoring in a win over Juventus: ‘I have had a shoulder injury, dropped from the national team.

‘I think that in the last few games in particular, when I have either come off the bench or started, I have felt that I have really started to come into my rhythm.

‘When you know you have more games coming up, it keeps you excited. I feel like a kid again, as opposed to being in the gym with one arm.’

Explaining his decision to leave the Galactico out of his previous England squad, Tuchel cryptically praised the side’s ‘team spirit’ during their earlier fixtures from which the superstar was omitted.

‘The last camp was only three and a half weeks ago. Teamwork, team spirit were at the highest level so far,’ he said.

‘That’s why we decided to invite the same group into this camp, to make more stable what we started to build. Are there players out there who deserve to be with us? Yes, for sure. Is there a way back into the team through performance? 100 per cent.

‘We think this is the best and most straightforward position. The competition is on to be in the squad and to make it onto the pitch.

‘I understand your focus on Jude (Bellingham); he is a very special player, and for special players, there are special rules.’

But Bellingham will now be back in the fold with the Three Lions for their upcoming games and look to re-establish himself as a vital player for his country ahead of the World Cup.
