Liverpool are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Hungary international Milos Kerkez this summer.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the best left backs in the Premier League this season, shining in 27 starts for Bournemouth.

Kerkez cost around £15.5million when he joined the Cherries from AZ Alkmaar in July 2023.

But according to The Telegraph, Liverpool will have to spend more than £40m if they are to bring him to Anfield.

Liverpool’s transfer activity is currently the responsibility of sporting director Richard Hughes, who was working for Bournemouth when they signed Kerkez.

Kerkez has also been linked with interest from Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks, but Liverpool is understood to be his most likely destination.

He previously attracted attention from Lazio, Leeds and Leicester before moving to the Vitality Stadium.

Liverpool’s current options at left back include Andy Robertson, 30, and Konstantinos Tsimikas, 28.

If Kerkez moves to Anfield this summer then he will become the first player since Jamie Redknapp in 1991 to transfer directly from Bournemouth to Liverpool.

Kerkez, who is under contract with Bournemouth until June 2028, began his senior career with Hungarian side Gyor, before spending time at AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar prior to moving to England.

Bournemouth are on course for the highest league finish in their 126-year history.

With 11 rounds of fixtures remaining, Andoni Iraola’s side sit seventh in the Premier League – just four points below fourth place.
