Manchester United target Karim Adeyemi has been fined nearly £400,000 for the possession of illegal weapons, according to a report.
According to German publication BILD, the Borussia Dortmund star must pay the fine in 60 daily installments totally £396,411.75 (€450,000) – each daily payment will total £6,606.86.
The public prosecutor’s office in Germany said the penalty became legally binding on October 30 after Adeyemi was found to be in possession of a knuckle duster and a taser.
According to The Athletic, the offence dates back to 2024, and the decision was made by a district court in Hagen, North Rhine-Westphalia. He has avoided a public trial and will not receive a criminal record.
The offence can, though, carry a sentence of up to three years in prison.
Dortmund said in an official statement: ‘BVB always takes criminal allegations seriously and uses them as an opportunity to discuss them with its employees while respecting confidentiality obligations.’

He has received a Strafbefehl, which, in Germany, is used to hand people fines without further penalties or a trial.
The person in question, though, can reject the verdict and request a formal trial.
He is not expected to face and further trial, but is reported to not have told the Germany national team of the incident himself.
Adeyemi has been away with the Germany national team, but did not play in his side’s 6-0 win over Slovakia on Monday night.
His national team manager Julian Nagelsmann said before the match: ‘The issue is a bit too big before such an important game, for all of us and for German football. Therefore, I will not comment on any further inquiries, regardless of their nature.’
On the field, the 23-year-old has won plenty of admirers with his explosive performances on the wing for the German club.
He has scored three goals and picked up three assists for his side this season, with Manchester United among his admirers.
The winger is under contract until 2027, but is thought to be unsettled at Dortmund after a clash with manager Niko Kovac that saw him throw a water bottle at a bench after being substituted against Cologne at the end of October.
Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann said the ‘issue is a bit too big before such an important game (on Monday)’
‘I think that’s unnecessary,’ the Dortmund manager said at the time. ‘It’s OK that he can be angry sometimes, but that’s unnecessary – he’s an adult.’
Therefore, he could be available in the upcoming transfer windows, but Dortmund are keen to agree a new contract with the star.
Borussia Dortmund were contacted for comment.
