Matheus Cunha has been pictured leaving a luxury Manchester hotel as he closes in on a £62.5million move to Manchester United.
After a dismal campaign that saw Ruben Amorim record United’s worst-ever Premier League finish in his maiden season in England, the club have wasted little time in identifying areas to strengthen in the transfer window.
With goals proving hard to come by for the club’s forward line, Brazil international Cunha was immediately earmarked as a top target.
The 26-year-old netted 15 Premier League goals in 33 appearances for Wolves last season.
Negotiations have been ongoing over recent days, with United agreeing to pay his £62.5m release in three instalments over the next two years.
And it appears that the highly-anticipated transfer is edging closer to completion as Cunha was spotted leaving the Lowry Hotel, a short drive from the club’s Carrington training complex.

Cunha and Gabriela tied the knot last summer, with the forward describing the ceremony as ‘a beautiful moment’
Cunha could be see wearing a white t-shirt and black Los Angeles baseball cap as he was flanked by his wife Gabriela, and their young son.
Gabriela, who tied the knot with Cunha at a ceremony in his native Brazil last summer, was visibly pregnant as she led their son towards the waiting car.
‘It was really emotional – I cried a lot!’ Cunha told BBC Sport of his wedding last year.
‘I saw all my family there, my son, and it was very beautiful. My wife was amazing. It was a beautiful moment.’
Cunha bid an emotional farewell to Wolves fans after the club held Brentford to a 1-1 draw in their final Premier League game of the season.
The Brazilian could be seen tearfully applauding fans at Molineux as it appears his three-year stint in the West Midlands is drawing to a close.
Cunha’s impending arrival is expected to provide Amorim with a significant boost, particularly after United’s post-season tour of Malaysia was marred by multiple controversies.
Asked earlier during the tour about his transfer plans the former Sporting Lisbon boss remained tight-lipped regarding Cunha’s arrival.

Liam Delap had emerged as another target for the club but instead opted to join Chelsea
‘You have to wait for that (announcement),’ Amorim told reporters.
‘I won’t confirm anything. I have no news. We will see. There will be some changes.’
Cunha is expected to occupy one of the No 10 roles in Amorim’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation, and the Portuguese coach is also keen to add further attacking reinforcements in the coming weeks.
Liam Delap had reportedly been on Amorim’s radar after the former Man City starlet starred in his breakout Premier League campaign despite Ipswich’s eventual relegation.
However, United were dealt yet more misery as the England youth international instead opted to join Chelsea, and will now have the opportunity to play Champions League football next season.
United’s hopes of featuring in UEFA’s premier continental club competition were dashed last month as they were defeated in the Europa League final by Tottenham.
Meanwhile Alejandro Garnacho appears destined for a summer move away from Old Trafford.
Mail Sport revealed earlier this week that Amorim told the Argentine international in no uncertain terms that his career at the club is over during a tense team meeting.
