Injuries have plagued Newcastle’s season the the situation reached crisis point on Saturday with four players having to be taken off due to knocks against West Ham.

It was a bittersweet day for Magpies supporters, who watched their side come from 3-1 down to beat the Hammers, Harvey Barnes scoring two late goals to snatch the three points.

Despite the happy ending there was plenty of cause for concern for Newcastle fans, who watched Eddie Howe get forced into making four changes during the game.

Jamaal Lascelles was first to go, limping off in the 17th minute to be replaced by Emil Krafth.

The second came when goalkeeper Alphonse Areola did not return after the half-time break, having looked to have been struggling near the end of the first half.

The returning Tino Livramento was next to go down with Miguel Almiron coming on in his place.

Almiron’s afternoon lasted just 11 minutes as he too suffered a knock. Match-winner Harvey Barnes replaced him.

And fans took to social media to express their frustration.

‘@NUFC are cursed’, wrote one while another asked ‘how do you have four injuries in one game?’.

Another posted on X: ‘I’ve never seen anything like this’ as one wrote ‘the amount of injuries they’ve picked up today is incredible’.
