Nottingham Forest have left summer signings Omari Hutchinson and Oleksandr Zinchenko out of their squad for the Europa League league phase.
Teams are permitted to name up to 25 players in their List A squads, but Forest are automatically limited as they only have one club-trained player in Ryan Yates.
UEFA rules require four such players to be named, and clubs that fall short see their squad reduced by the same number. In Forest’s case, that leaves them with a 22-man squad.
That restriction has forced Forest to leave out £37.5million midfielder Hutchinson and deadline-day loan signing Zinchenko. Goalkeeper Angus Gunn, defenders Jair Cunha and Cuiabano and forwards Jota Silva and Taiwo Awoniyi are also not included.
Other summer arrivals such as Dan Ndoye, Dilane Bakwa and Douglas Luiz have been named. Forest can make up to three changes between the group stage and the knockout rounds. Players under the age of 21 who have been at the club for two years, such as Zach Abbott, are eligible for the separate List B and do not count towards the quota.
Hutchinson joined from Ipswich shortly before the start of the season and has made two substitute appearances so far. His omission comes with Forest already well stocked in attacking areas, with Gibbs-White, McAtee, Ndoye, Bakwa and Hudson-Odoi all included.

Zinchenko’s absence is notable given his ability to play at full-back and in midfield. Forest are short of cover in those positions, but the Ukraine international has not been registered for the group stage.
Neco Williams, Ola Aina and Nicolo Savona are the only specialist full-backs named in the squad.
Forest spent around £140m on 13 new signings this summer after finishing seventh last season to qualify for Europe for the first time in 30 years. They were handed a Europa League place after a CAS ruling against Crystal Palace.
Nuno Espirito Santo is under pressure after reports of a strained relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis. The Forest manager admitted last week that the relationship was ‘not so good’, sparking speculation about his future. Marinakis has since denied a rift, insisting he and Nuno remain united and committed to the club’s European campaign.
Forest begin their Europa League group stage with a trip to Real Betis on September 24. They will also face Porto and Malmo.
