Nottingham Forest are targeting Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Marseille’s Bamba Dieng as they look to bolster their attack.

The Premier League new boys had a disappointing start to their season at Newcastle on Saturday and their owners are keen to keep strengthening their squad before the close of the transfer window at the end of this month.

As well as another left-back and two midfielders, they want a striker and have added Ramos and Dieng to their extensive list.

Their opening offer for Ramos has fallen short of Benfica’s valuation for the 21-year old who has also attracted interest from Wolves.

Highly-rated Dieng, 22, has been scouted by Newcastle, Leeds, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Celtic who see potential in the pacy Senegal international.

Indeed, Newcastle made an offer for Dieng in January and he has remained on their radar.

Forest are determined to land at least four new signings for manager Steve Cooper to give him a squad to compete with.

They made enquiries for Villarreal left back Pervis Estupinan on Monday and remain keen to add Manchester United midfielder James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White from Wolves.

Forest are also discussing a potential deal for free agent and former Crystal Palace and West Ham midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, 32.

Cooper’s side will look to bounce back from their defeat to Newcastle when they take on West Ham at the Forest Ground on Sunday.
