Oliver Glanser’s video nasty helped Crystal Palace come from behind to frustrate Chelsea, with the Austrian showing his players clips of where they were going wrong during the half-time break at Stamford Bridge.
Palace boss Glasner leaned on his analysts to come up with the footage so that he could correct their mistakes before the second half. Palace posed much more of a threat after that video session, which is unusual even in this age of exhaustive Premier League analytics.
Speaking after securing their first point of the Premier League season, Glasner said: ‘For me, it was clear when I saw it. We always found our sixes in great positions, but we played into the pressure. When we started to switch the play, we got (better) moments.
‘The 1-0 was completely deserved at half-time but then we had one or two adaptations and the players did fantastic in the second half. I had a feeling, when we were in our shape, that Chelsea wouldn’t find space or their moments and we were dangerous in our transitions, in our set plays and finishes.’
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca confirmed striker Nicolas Jackson is set to sign a new deal.

Jackson is already tied down until 2031 but will now be contracted to 2033, with the club wanting to reward him for his 14 Premier League goals last season.
‘I’m very happy, Nicolas is doing a fantastic job with us on and off the ball,’ Maresca said. ‘I have faith (in him), the club also.’
On whether they would need to revisit signing a striker in January, Maresca added: ‘We will see. I feel sorry for the players because when you finish the game, you can see the frustrations. But in the way we play, we are going to win games.’
Maresca was angry that Palace’s Will Hughes had not been shown a second yellow card when he killed an attack by piggybacking Cole Palmer.
‘The game would have changed,’ he said. ‘The reaction from their bench to change him immediately, it was quite clear, but the referee saw it a different way.’
