England are monitoring striker Ollie Watkins and defender Fikayo Tomori ahead of potential June call-ups, according to reports.

The Three Lions will play two qualifiers for the UEFA European Championship in 2024.

And manager Gareth Southgate is believed to be weighing up changes to his squad.

As reported by the Athletic, Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland watched the in-form pair in action in the last few weeks, with the duo firmly on their radar.

Watkins was third in the pecking order to be captain Harry Kane’s deputy at the World Cup behind Callum Wilson and Ivan Toney.

But the Aston Villa star has 14 goals and six assists in the Premier League this season and has impressed for Unai Emery’s resurgent side with 11 goals in his last 13 matches.

Southgate was at Villa Park to see Watkins score three times in two games, as he netted in the 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest and twice in the 3-0 victory over Newcastle.

Holland is said to have attended Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford, with the 27-year-old potentially in line to make a Three Lions squad for the first time since March 2022.

Former Chelsea No 2 Holland, 52, reportedly also watched AC Milan centre back Tomori play in the Rossoneri’s 1-1 Champions League draw against Napoli, which saw them progress to the semi-finals with a 2-1 aggregate win.

Tomori has been brilliant for Stefano Pioli’s side this season but missed out on the squad for March’s games against Italy and Ukraine.

Struggling centre backs Harry Maguire, of Manchester United, and Tottenham’s Eric Dier were preferred then alongside John Stones and Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

Dier was part of the Spurs backline that conceded five goals in 21 minutes in a 6-1 thrashing against Newcastle on Sunday.

Their clashes come away against Malta on June 16 and at home against North Macedonia on June 19.
