The Premier League has reached an out of court settlement with an employee accusing the organisation of racial and disability discrimination.
Just hours before the start of a potentially damaging employment tribunal, in which, crucially, chief executive Richard Masters was among the defendants, the late development avoids what was gearing up to be an unconformable scenario for English football’s leading stakeholder.
While original court listings identify Masters and director of people Catherine Paterson as defendants in the case, well-placed sources have indicated their roles in proceedings were as witnesses.

Moloud Ghashghee – an IT technician at the Premier League – had opened a legal case against the Premier League on the grounds of race and disability discrimination.
It is understood the disability element of Ghashghee’s claim formed the most substantial part of her case.
But it has been confirmed the dispute has now been settled and the tribunal vacated.
The tribunal was scheduled to start today at Victory House in central London and had been penciled in to last 10 days.
A Premier League spokesperson said: ‘As has previously been reported, a former employee of the Premier League brought a number of claims against the League which were due to be heard at an Employment Tribunal.
‘While the Premier League has always rejected those claims, it is now pleased that both parties have been able to resolve these issues without the need for the Tribunal to take place. The Premier League wishes her well in all her future endeavours.’
Ghashghee’s case was one of two employment cases surrounding alleged racial discrimination the Premier League have been preparing for.
Kay Badu, a former member of the Premier League’s diversity and inclusion team, has launched his own legal claim against the organisation.
The Premier League opened an official investigation into allegations of internal racism made by Badu, but the subsequent probe, carried out by an independent barrister, effectively cleared the organisation and its employees of discrimination.
Badu, who strenuously disagrees with the findings of the Premier League’s investigation, is now compiling his own legal case on the grounds of racial discrimination, victimisation and harassment ahead of a court date later this year.
