Leandro Paredes has revealed that he ‘didn’t have a relationship’ with Kylian Mbappe during his time at PSG – despite the pair sharing the same dressing room for three seasons.

The Argentine left PSG this summer to join Juventus on a season-long loan, which can be made a permanent one for £19.5million should the Italian side decide to activate the option to buy clause in the deal.

Since leaving the Parc des Princes, Paredes has opened up on his relationship – or lack of – with Mbappe, insisting he is not one to talk about it given there was no connection between them.

‘I am not the one to talk about him,’ he told ESPN Argentina when quizzed on his relationship with Mbappe. ‘I had a connection with the ones I had a relationship with. But the ones I didn’t have a relationship with, I can’t tell you about them.’

This isn’t the first time this season that Mbappe has experienced a frosty relationship with one of his own team-mates.

Paredes’ comments come days after Neymar stopped short of burying the hatchet with Mbappe, with the PSG duo reportedly at odds with one another.

The two team-mates have shown signs of a strained relationship on the pitch already this season, as the forwards clashed a month ago over a penalty during the French side’s 5-2 win over Montpellier.

Neymar stepped up and scored after Mbappe had missed earlier on in the game after fighting over who should take the second penalty.

The French international also opted not to celebrate with his Brazilian team-mate after he dispatched his spot kick.

The Brazilian then liked a series of tweets criticising his team-mate, but the rift was reportedly squashed in the same week after talks with sporting director Luis Campos.

Neymar was then left fuming with Mbappe during the win over Juventus in the Champions League earlier this month after Mbappe refused to pass him the ball which would have left him with an easy tap-in.

Instead, Mbappe chose to shoot for his hat-trick but missed the target, leaving more questions being asked their relationship.

Speaking after Brazil’s 3-0 win over Ghana on Friday evening, Neymar gave a telling response to his feelings about Mbappe as he brushed off a question about his relationship with the PSG forward and walked off.

He told the media after helping his country seal a victory during the international break: ‘With Kylian? I don’t know.’

Mbappe previously played down the rift between him and Neymar after those incidents on the pitch.

‘This is the sixth year with Neymar. We have always had a relationship like this, based on respect, but sometimes with warmer and colder moments.

‘It is the nature of our relationship. I have a lot of respect for the player that he is.

‘When you have two players with such a strong character, you have moments like that, but always with respect and in the interest of PSG.’

Neymar is currently the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 with eight goals after an impressive start to the new campaign.
