Jack Butland (centre) believes Rangers have enough quality to narrow the gap to Celtic

Jack Butland believes there isn’t a big gap between Rangers and Celtic but knows they need to demonstrate over the remainder of the season that they are capable of closing it.

The Ibrox side trail their rivals by 13 points with just eight games to play, leaving Celtic on the cusp of a fourth successive Premiership title, but they do have a Europa League quarter-final to look forward to next month.

‘We need to keep winning and finish the season on a high,’ said Butland ahead of this evening’s trip to play Dundee.

‘Whatever gap people want to put there, there are reasons why, so go ahead.

‘But we don’t believe that there is a big gap. As the league sits, there’s a gap that we need to close and we need to try to do it.

‘So the last part of this season is very much about winning as many games as we can. The target is obviously to win all of them, including beating Celtic at home.’
