Ange Postecoglou used his first meeting with Nottingham Forest’s squad to offer every player a chance to impress

Ange Postecoglou used his first meeting with Nottingham Forest’s squad to offer every player a chance to impress following an unsettling start to the season.

Even though several members of the squad have not yet returned from international duty, Postecoglou stressed that everyone has the opportunity to be involved at Arsenal on Saturday. That will be music to the ears of players like Omari Hutchinson and Douglas Luiz, the summer signings who saw little or no action during the final games of Nuno Espirito Santo’s reign.

Daily Mail Sport understands that at least initially, Postecoglou is unlikely to overhaul the playing style completely, though there will necessarily be certain tweaks.

Though Forest were moving towards more of a possession-based style under Nuno, the tactics favoured by Postecoglou at Spurs were still far more daring than anything Nuno has attempted.

It would be quite a risk, therefore, to ask Forest to play totally differently at Emirates Stadium, yet the intensity is thought to have gone up a couple of notches in the initial training drills, with plenty of ball work.

Postecoglou may have an immediate selection headache, however, with key defender Ola Aina a big doubt for the Arsenal match after picking up an injury during the international break.

Aina limped out of Nigeria’s friendly against South Africa after only 10 minutes and faces a race against time to be fit for the return of Premier League action.

Postecoglou has also hired members of his backroom team from Tottenham: Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery, Sergio Raimundo and goalkeeping coach Rob Burch.
