Harry Maguire has not joined his Man United team-mates on their journey out to Chicago

Harry Maguire will travel to Chicago to link up with his Manchester United team-mates on Wednesday after staying behind for personal reasons.

Maguire missed United’s flight to the US with the rest of the 32-man squad on Tuesday, but sources close to the England defender indicated that it wasn’t a serious issue and United said they were hopeful he would be able to join them in due course.

Maguire then posted a message on social media saying: ‘All is fine now. I will be travelling tomorrow to meet up with the squad, thanks for your concern.’

The club’s two big summer signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo are in the travelling party, with Cunha reporting for duty despite announcing the birth of a baby daughter on Monday night.

Cunha sparked speculation that he might miss the start of United’s three-game trip to America by confirming he has become a father for the second time, but the 25-year-old Brazilian is on the flight to O’Hare International Airport which lands in Chicago on Tuesday evening.

As expected, Ruben Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ were left behind to train at Carrington as Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia seek moves away from Old Trafford.
